Senator Phil Gramm

Senator Phil Gramm joined Lone Star Funds as Vice Chairman in 2012 after serving as Vice Chairman of UBS Investment Bank from 2002 to 2011, where he provided senior leadership on major international IPOs and privatizations.
Before his career in investment banking, Senator Gramm served six years in the U.S. House of Representatives and eighteen years in the U.S. Senate. His legislative achievements include the Reagan Budget, the Gramm-Rudman Act, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which modernized U.S. banking, insurance, and securities law.
He is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Georgia. He taught economics at Texas A&M University for 12 years and is the co-author of The Myth of American Inequality, winner of the 2024 Hayek Prize, and The Triumph of Economic Freedom. He has also written extensively for The Wall Street Journal.
